C,C++,C#

C and its varients is a very convenient and addictive language. History of C The initial development of C occurred at AT&T Bell Labs between 1969 and 1973; according to Ritchie, the most creative period occurred in 1972. It was named "C" because many of its features were derived from an earlier language called "B", which according to Ken Thompson was a stripped-down version of the BCPL programming language. History of C++ It was developed by Bjarne Stroustrup starting in 1979 at Bell Labs as an enhancement to the C programming language and originally named "C with Classes". It was renamed C++ in 1983.As one of the most popular programming languages ever created,[3][4] C++ is widely used in the software industry.C++ continues to be used and is one of the preferred programming languages to develop professional applications. The popularity of the language continues to grow C#(pronounced c sharp) In June 2000, Microsoft announced both the .NET platform and a new programming language called C#. C# is a strongly-typed object-oriented language designed to give the optimum blend of simplicity, expressiveness, and performance. C# and .NET are a little symbiotic: some features of C# are there to work well with .NET, and some features. Learning of C++ I had been leaning C++ since i entered Secondary school and i find C and its variance is a very convenient and addictive language. The commands are really short and simple, and i simply loved the computer lessons every week. It was fun and enjoyable, and the satisfaction of coding a programme is beyond describing. I had dreamed of being able to write a programme that is able in reduced my workload in calculating. It may be a basic, but at least i am going forward in the virtual world of programming. I hope that i am able to master the highest levels of programming.

Just another new year

I believe that every new year has a special meaning for each and every one of us. The Chinese new year, which falls on 1/1 of the lunar calendar, means a special meaning to all the Chinese in the world. Chinese New Year is the longest and most important festivity in the Chinese Lunar Calendar, which lasts 15 days! Traditionally( although the holiday is only 2 days.) On the days before the New Year celebration Chinese families are supposed to give their home a thorough cleaning. my family did not have time on the day and hence did not dot he traditional spring cleaning. A reunion dinner is held on New Year's Eve where members of the family, near and far away, get together for the celebration. The venue will usually be in or near the home of the most senior member of the family. The New Year's Eve dinner is very sumptuous and traditionally includes chicken and fish. In some areas, fish is included, but not eaten completely (and the remainder is stored overnight), as the Chinese phrase "may there be surpluses every year" (年年有余; sounds the same as "may there be fish every year.".( although i felt that it doesn't make a difference, i cooperated anyway.) The most desired and savvied day is the first day as it is the time friends and families unite. As my relatives live in mainland china, i couldn't come together with my family.(too sad for me). However, i still gathered with my friends and had a happy reunion. We had the most craved Red envelopes given by my friends' family although i surrendered them to my parents as they make no use to me anyway. The lunch was unbelieving sumptuous. It consists of mouth-watering dumplings, pizza and Japanese cuisine(this is not traditional, but no one cared about it as it is equally accepted in this multi-racial society) Finally, we played poker with our friends(of course non money involved ) but had to go home early 'cause everyone is tired. I wondered how would the next new year be.

Weiqi/Go

What is Go? Go is a board game for two players, noted for being rich in strategic complexity despite its simple rules. The game is played by two players who alternately place black and white stones on the vacant intersections of a grid of 19×19 lines.There are only two simple rules: capturing and ko. Capturing:When a chain of stones is surrounded by opposing stones so that it has no liberties, it is captured and removed from the board. Ko: Players are not allowed to make a move that returns the game to the position before the opponent's last move. This rule prevents unending repetition. See image. Weiqi's history Go is said to originate in ancient China more than 2,500 years ago, and although it is not known exactly when the game was invented, by the 3rd century BC it was already a popular pastime, as indicated by a reference to the game in the Analects of Confucius. The game is most popular in East Asia, but has gained some popularity in other parts of the world in recent years. The most powerful tree "kingdoms" that played weiqi are Japan, Korea and China. I enjoyed Weiqi as it was a simple but tactically hard game which requires complex skills and attention. It is the only game which a computer cannot beat human, as technicians are frantically trying to find a way. I spent about 6 hours a week as i learnt weiqi. Over the years, my skills have improve drastically and i am really proud of myself.
