Tom Robinson' trial
Many people gathered to watch Atticus Finch defend a black man, Tom Robinson in the hot Maycomb County Courtroom yesterday. "...That Negroe yonder took advantage of me," claimed Mayella Ewell.
Tom Robinson was accused of raping Mayella Ewell.
It happened when Mayella Ewell invited Tom into the Ewell yard to do odd jobs for her for no charge. Tom Robinson accepted out of pity for Mayella Ewell
Mayella claimed that Tom followed her into the house when she asked him to chop up a chiffarobe. According to Mayella, he struck her in the face and took advantage of her. Tom's story was much different. "She reached up an' kissed me side of th' face. She says she's never kissed a grown man before an' she might have well kissed a Negro.
Mayella was the daughter of Bob Ewell, and also a member of the Ewell family. The Ewell family was the outclass of the society with children only going to the first day of school and quitting school soon afterwards. Bob Ewell was a typical drunkard, and hence Mayella had to take care of all the children at home.
Tom Robinson has worked on Mr. Link Deas's farm for eight years. "...that boy's worked for me eight years an' I ain't had a speck o' trouble outa him. Not a speck," stated Mr. Deas during the trial. While working on the farm, he had an accident with the cotton gin, leaving his entire left hand completely useless.
Atticus made a fine speech by starting the trial by asking for evidence from Mayella Ewell, Bob Ewell and Tom Robinson.
Atticus made a good stand by finding out if the people was left handed or right handed. The most outstanding fact was that it was confirmed Mayella's right eye was blackened, proving she had been hit by a left-handed but Tom Robinson had his left-handed rendered useless.
However, the final verdict was that Tom Robinson was guilty of raping Mayella Ewell and Tom was sent to jail.
After the trial, I had an interview with Atticus, and one of the questions i asked him was why he stood up for Tom Robinson, a black, when there is obvious prejudice against blacks around here.
He stated, "Although we had already been beaten hundreds years age, we still had to stand up to the injustice, no matter how obvious it is, at all cost."

Dear dairy,
I couldn't take in what had happened this today. I couldn't believe a thing. Before this incident had happened, if anyone had even mentioned that Atticus is "one shot Finch", i would have laughed till i broke down into convulsions.
Today, when Atticus was still in his office, scout and i had noticed a mad dog, named Tim Robinson, coming down the road. We immediately informed Calpurnia to call up the authorities, but much to my surprise, she called Atticus. My first impression was, what's the use of Atticus in this situation. It is impossible that he had the skill or even courage to kill a mad dog without getting harmed.
Soon, the sheriff and Atticus arrived. I was still half-sniggering and half-worried if Atticus would be bitten by the mad dog. I heaved a sign of relief when the sheriff took out his gun. Atticus would be a by-stander only. However, the next thing the sheriff did send dumbfounded me.
He handed the gun to Atticus! What could Atticus do with a gun? I had never seen him using a gun before in my life, unlike other fathers who went out to hunt. But what could Atticus do with a gun? I was momentarily shocked. At that moment, i wondered if Atticus would waste all the ammunition and still would not even hurt the mad dog and be a laughing stock on he street.
I waited with bated breath when Atticus lifted the gun and aim. He lifted his spectacles up as it is a hindrance to him but it kept sliding down. He threw it on the ground and fired.
All eyes was on Tim Robinson as he led a a bark followed by a gasp. Then, he drooped down on the ground on agony and the event is over.
I couldn't absorb what had happened and neither could scout.. She had her eyes bulging, her jaw laying down. We soon regained our composure and questioned Atticus. However, the sheriff, more surprised then us, asked us if Atticus have not tell us that he was the "well known one shot Finch".
Afterwards, we spoke to Ms Maudie and she wasn't surprised a bit.
In retrospect, i felt that Atticus is the best father. Shooting is one of his strength and he didn't even boast about it. Also, the sheriff handing the gun and the responsibility of maintaining the safety of the village. I take back all my words of calling him "useless".
Regards,
Jem
Multiple Intelligence test
Multiple Intelligence test, though not really accurate, is still one of the best way to find out what are your strength and weakness in the shortest time possible. There are mainly five areas mainly, Interpersonal, Verbal-linguistic, Logical-mathematical, Intrapersonal, and Musical.
Interpersonal
This area has to do with interaction with others. In theory, people who have a high interpersonal intelligence communicate effectively and mix easily with others, and may be either leaders or followers.
Verbal-linguistic
This area has to do with words, spoken or written. People with high verbal-linguistic intelligence display a facility with words and languages. Those with verbal-linguistic intelligence learn foreign languages very easily as they have high verbal memory and recall, and an ability to understand and manipulate syntax and structure.
Logical-mathematical
This area has to do with logic, abstractions, reasoning, and numbers. While it is often assumed that those with this intelligence naturally excel in mathematics, chess, computer programming and other logical or numerical activities, a more accurate definition places emphasis on traditional mathematical ability and more reasoning capabilities, abstract patterns of recognition, scientific thinking and investigation, and the ability to perform complex calculations. It correlates strongly with traditional concepts of "intelligence" or IQ.
Intrapersonal
This area has to do with introspective and self-reflective capacities. They are skillful at deciphering their own feelings and motivations. This refers to having a deep understanding of the self; what are your strengths/ weaknesses, what makes you unique, can you predict your own reactions/ emotions.
Musical
This area has to do with rhythm, music, and hearing. Those who have a high level of musical-rhythmic intelligence display greater sensitivity to sounds, rhythms, tones, and music. They normally have good pitch and may even have absolute pitch, and are able to sing, play musical instruments, and compose music.
I had just took a test at http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks3/ict/multiple_int/questions/choose_lang.cfm
My main strength intrapersonal and my main weakness is interpersonal. This tends to be quite accurate as i like to do things by myself and even live alone.(a loner?) i dislike communicating and tried not to speak unless necessary. Furthermore, i like to make friends with quiet people, as it meant that i need not speak a lot.
My mother had urged or even forced me to speak but it seemed that her efforts came to a naught as i continued to be conserved and reserved and kept to myself.
My next strength is logical. I tends to be fascinated with numbers sine i am young and loves finding patterns in a logical sequence. It is really fun as the enjoyment ad satisfaction of finding the pattern makes me happy for the whole day.
